Agia Fotia

At a 20 minutes drive from Ierapetra you will find the bay AGHIA FOTIA. The coastal road continues all round the valley. In the valley and also at the beach of Aghia Fotia there are several restaurants, tavernas and a small bar, where you can enjoy a drink, also at night, while looking out over the sea. The bay of Aghia Fotia (and also the next one: Achlia) is beautiful and not crowded. You can rent beach chairs and parasols, but that is all there is. The Greek people themselves also visit these beaches during the weekend. At the beach of Aghia Fotia you may like to participate in a game of beach volleyball, and afterwards take a refreshing dive in the sea. There is also a shower on the beach. During the summer you may like to take some diving lessons, which are given regularly. If you drive on a bit further eastwards, the bays will become more and more deserted, with long sandy beaches or rocks, where you can enjoy an underwater swim.
