Mirtos
Mirtos is een lieflijk klein dorp aan de zuidkust van Kreta, gelegen aan de mooie Lybische Zee, 14 km ten westen van Ierapetra. Kenmerkend voor Mirtos is de relaxte sfeer, het authenthieke dorpsleven en de multiculturele samenleving. Diverse vakantiegangers hebben besloten om hier te leven en hebben zich in de afgelopen jaren in Mirtos en omringende dorpen gevestigd. De uitbaters van de zowel in het dorp als aan de boulevard gelegen tavernes zullen u, zoals de grieken eigen, hartelijk verwelkomen en verwennen met typsiche griekse gerechten en mezedes (borrelhapjes). Mirtos is ook bijzonder geliefd bij de Grieken die het stadse leven willen ontvluchten. Omdat Mirtos een dorp is waar de bewoners in de winter niet wegtrekken, is het ook in de zachte winters goed vertoeven. De winkels voor uw dagelijkse boodschappen blijven gewoon open en er zijn veel apartementen die voor langere perioden te huur zijn.
Mirtos vormt een goede uitvalbasis voor uitstapjes. Wandelaars kunnen de omgeving, eventueel met een gids, verkennen via goed aangegeven wandelpaden langs o.a. de rivierbedding, naar de Sarakinakloof of de kleine Minoan nederzetting. Ook met de bus of met een huurauto kunt u nader kennismaken met Kreta. Een boottochtje naar Chrissi eiland is zonder meer aan te bevelen evenals uitstapjes naar o.a. Spinalonga, Sitia en Agios Nikolaos.
Stone House
Stone Houses, were built in 2011 at the edges of Myrtos village and are consisted of 3 stone villas. They have a spectacular view of the plain verdant with olive and orange trees.
